People’s Freedom vs. State Control | Presentation|26th June, Monday| 7-10 pm

State control over citizens has never been as pervasive as today. Modern technology and theories are shared at global scale to create ever more sophisticated panopticons of surveillance and repression in our societies.

Using Palestine as a permanent laboratory, Israel is a prime producer of tools of population control, homeland security, repression and exclusion. India’s ruling class is avidly absorbing this know-how and technology – turning its back to the Palestinian struggle and its quest for justice, freedom and equality. The Palestinian people vs. Israeli apartheid.

At the eve of the Supreme Court decision on the biometric identification of the Aadhar card and shortly before the first visit of Indian prime minister to Israel, we want to discuss with Maren Mantovani the impact of surveillance and repressive technology in India, how people around the world resist the import of skills and tools of repression to their communities and how to save our people’s freedom from disciplinary state control.

Maren Mantovani is member of the international secretariat of the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Committee (BNC) and international outreach coordinator of the Palestinian Stop the Wall Campaign. She has done extensive research on the Israeli military and homeland security sector and worked with communities and organisations around the globe that resist military and security ties with Israel.

Please gather by 7 pm for food, beverages and seats. It is a donation based event.
