Across the world, we are seeing the expansion of security infrastructures that seek to preempt, and thereby prevent, outbreaks of social unrest. When and how did these logics emerge? And what impacts do they have on populations who are subject to increased surveillance? This talk will explore these questions by drawing connections between postwar America and contemporary India.
